About
Algernon Mitford brought the seeds of his diplomatic career back from Japan and planted them in the hills above Moreton: cherries, magnolias, and the maples that make Batsford one of the great autumn destinations of the Cotswolds.
The arboretum holds around 2,900 trees of more than 1,500 species, alongside Buddha statues and bronze deer that Mitford collected on the same travels. October and early November are spectacular.
