The Donnington Way

A 62-mile walking circuit through the North Cotswolds, linking the small estate of pubs that take ale from the Donnington Brewery.

About

The Donnington Brewery has been making beer at Upper Swell since 1865 and supplies a small estate of Cotswold pubs around Stow-on-the-Wold. The Donnington Way, devised in the 1990s by walker Colin Handy, threads them together in a 62-mile waymarked circuit through the North Cotswolds.

Walked over four to five days, the route is the rare long-distance path with a built-in pub at almost every staging point — and a working watermill at the brewery itself, viewable by appointment. A lovely walk in good weather, even if you don't drink the beer.
