The Windrush Way

A 14-mile walking route between Winchcombe and Bourton-on-the-Water — the southern half of a circuit paired with the Wardens' Way.

About

The Windrush Way runs along higher ground than its companion the Wardens' Way, taking a more open southerly route between Winchcombe and Bourton. Along the way it passes the source of the River Windrush near Cutsdean and rises onto views across the high Cotswold sheep country.

Walked together with the Wardens' Way, the two routes form a 28-mile circuit — each one a different direction of the same trip. Perfect for a long weekend with two nights' accommodation in either Winchcombe or Bourton.

In Winchcombe

An ancient royal capital tucked beneath the escarpment, with Sudeley Castle on its edge and eight long-distance footpaths meeting in its centre.
