DESCRIPTION:Stow Horse Fair has been held twice a year since the late 15th 
 century — Thursdays nearest 12 May and 24 October. The October fair is the
  smaller of the two but still draws thousands of Romany and traveller fami
 lies\, with horses traded along the lanes leading out of the town.\n\nThe 
 fair takes place on Maugersbury Road south of the Square. Many shops\, res
 taurants and pubs in the town close for the day — unless you're going spec
 ifically for the fair\, this is one date worth avoiding in the Stow calend
 ar. Dates occasionally shift by a week at short notice\; check before trav
