About Snowshill
Snowshill is a hamlet of perhaps two dozen honey-stone houses gathered around a green and a small Victorian church. There is one pub, one National Trust manor and not much else — which is, of course, the whole point.
From late June to mid-July the hill below the village turns purple as the Cotswold Lavender fields come into full flower, drawing day-trippers who often miss the village itself a mile up the lane.
The Cotswold Guide Top Tips
- Park at the National Trust car park even if you're only visiting the lavender field — the village lanes are too narrow for visitor parking.
- Walk the half-mile field path from the manor to the lavender for the prettiest approach.

3 miles south of Broadway off the A44; narrow lanes and tight corners — drive slowly. The National Trust car park serves both the manor and the village. No public transport.
Best time to visit
Late June and early July for the lavender at peak flower; September for harvest light and quiet lanes. The manor is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and entirely from November to March.
