About Tetbury
Tetbury is the King's home town: His Majesty has lived at Highgrove, just outside, for fifty years, and his sustainable food shop sits opposite the 1655 Market House. Royal patronage has shaped a lively centre with two dozen antique dealers, several smart restaurants and a strong independent retail scene.
The town is also the gateway to Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, three miles south.
The Cotswold Guide view
Tetbury is a nice walkable village with lots of antique shops. Good for pottering! Make sure you pop in to the Highgrove shop and get your royal merch.
The Cotswold Guide Top Tips
- Highgrove Garden tours run from late spring through summer and book up months in advance — but the Highgrove official shop in Long Street is open year-round, no booking required.
- Visit Westonbirt in late October for the maples at their colour peak.
