Longborough Festival Opera 2026

One of Britain's most distinctive summer opera houses — a purpose-built theatre in a converted North Cotswolds chicken shed, with a 2026 season of Handel, Verdi, Humperdinck and a revival of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde.

About

Longborough Festival Opera runs its full 2026 season from 30 May to 8 August in the quirky purpose-built theatre it created from a former chicken shed on a Cotswold farm above Moreton-in-Marsh. Four productions across ten weeks:

Handel's Orlando (30 May – 7 June), directed by Sinéad O'Neill. A revival of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde (20 June – 18 July), conducted by Music Director Anthony Negus. Verdi's Macbeth (1–16 July), directed by Karolina Sofulak. Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel (30 July – 8 August), conducted by Karen Kamensek.

The atmosphere is the Cotswold equivalent of Glyndebourne — long dining interval on the lawn, black tie encouraged. Ticket and picnic packages via the LFO website.
